Children were shouting, running, singing happily and excitedly on Tuesday 30th May 2017. I was the second day of Samoan Language Week and the day started off with a bang.

All the children and teachers looked stunning in their colourful and gorgeous Bea’s (Samoan outfit for girls), Ie faikaga, Of kigo ( Samoan Outfit for men) and Sei’s ( hair accessories for girls).

We started the day with a beautiful prayer from Mr. Rupena to thank the Lord for all he has done. After that, we had the Samoan Speech Competition, and our judges were Mr. Lemanu and Mrs. Paulo.

We were so lucky because our thoughtful staff members and parents provided us with food for morning tea, which was sandwiches and drinks.

After our short break, Mr. Lemanu and Mrs. Paulo announced the winners of the Speech Competition from each year level.

The students and teachers began to laugh, dance and sing

their lungs out until a person came to teach the younger ones different animals and the different noises they make in Samoan but the elder students decided to join in too. They also played games while he was there too, which was like concentration, it was actually a lot of fun.

Just after he left, we were all getting ready to play more fun games with the teachers while the other teachers and some other students were getting the delicious kokolaisa (cocoa rice) and buttered bread ready, then we headed off to lunch.

After a long day of learning, laughter, singing, and dancing, all the students headed back to their classes.
