Room 20 believes in this statement, “We learn by doing!” They solve number and word problems using a variety of strategies such as counting on or forward, counting backward, skip counting by 2’s, 5’s, 10’s, repeated addition with the help of their fingers and concrete objects. They can count and identify numbers from 1 – 1000. Number lessons are on-going in the class.

They had a great time learning measurement and statistics. They’ve learned technical words such as volume, capacity, probability, tally chart, bar graph, picture graph, etc. In connection with these lessons, they could use speaking terms such as I wonder why, I wonder if, I wonder what, greater than, bigger than, lesser than, and many more.

They also have done projects such as boxes and posters showing those activities. To them, Maths is a very important subject. They can do or use it inside and outside the classroom.
