Recount:Farm

On the 18th of February we went to Gallagher’s Farm on bus to learn about cows here’s my story. We are going to Gallagher Farm to learn about -processes, i’m going to see some cows, I thought, but it didn’t quite that way.I did see some cows but I saw them doing their business, my nose was blocked, but I still smelt the stuff, but even worse, poop went on my shoes and in my socks, eeewwwww! Poop poop poop

So we arrived at Gallaghers Farm with me thinking we were going to touch animals, but I was wrong. Everyone got out the bus already sweating from the heat, but luckily I took my hat, that helped alot.

The farmer told us to split into two groups, one for the farm walk, and one to stay back and do some activities.20170316_113525

We were the first to go on the farm walk that was so long. First we went to see what the difference was between a cow and a bull, that was SOO FUN!-_- . Then we went to go look at the water supply, also so fun-_-, and next we went to go see the food supplies and the VAT machine. The VAT is like a big fridge that keeps the milk cold for someone to pick up.

After that, we went to explore the pumping machine that sucks out milk from the cows udders. We stuck our thumbs inside them and that felt so weird. We then hopped on the gate and it started moving, then the lady sprayed away the poop and that’s when it went on my shoes.

We followed the poop water, the farmer showed us the efficient pond where all the poop and mimi goes to. Next, we walked up the hill and saw about 100 cows, that’s also when I saw a cow pooping. Then we walked down the hill and saw over 200 cows. We learnt about them like facts such as their normal age when they die, which is  8 years old also, that cows have very strict routines.

Then..out of relief we made it back alive, because we almost got roasted from the sun. We had lunch and touched the fence. Everyone got in a line and held hands except for me, Chaz touched the fence and nothing happened, a second later they all jumped and all you heard was bzzzzz!!

We wrote facts we learnt on our walk.I hopped on the quadbike and played on it thinking I was cool.

We waited for about an hour and then they got back. That was when we left. Surprisingly, I wanted to leave because it was so hot and I felt tired as hell. So I told my parents it was, “OK”,”haha”, but at the end of the day it was good to experience the farm life and to know where our Fonterra Milk came from. Thank you Gallagher’s farm!!!
